Hecate Grid is a jointly owned platform of Hecate Energy and InfraRed Capital. Hecate Grid develops, owns, and operates utility scale energy storage projects in North America. Hecate Grid and its affiliates have been awarded over 3.5 GW of renewable and flexible power capacity in North America, Europe and MENA. Regarding battery energy storage Hecate Grid and its affiliates have been awarded 210 MW and 329 MWH of battery storage contracts. Of these contracts, Hecate Grid and its affiliates own and operate 103 MW / 106 MWH of battery storage projects, with another 95 MW / 170 MWH under contract with deployment scheduled for 2019 and 2020.
Hecate Grid leverages the extensive energy development and operations experience of Hecate Energy. Hecate Energy’s management team has worked together for 20 years successfully developing, valuing, acquiring, re-powering, financing and operating power generating and utility assets. Hecate Energy’s leadership team held previous executive roles to oversee the operational, strategic, and M&A activities of leading power companies Sithe Energies and K-Road Power ($4.8B and $3.0B market caps, respectively). Founded in 2012 Hecate Energy has entered over 1 GW of renewable energy PPAs and developed and built 363 MW of operating solar projects totaling over $600 million in asset value. The company is in offtake negotiations for over an additional 1 GW of new solar projects, with a pipeline of about 6 GW of projects under development.
InfraRed Capital is a global investment manager focused on infrastructure and real estate with over $10 billion of capital under management. Over the past 20 years InfraRed has developed over 80 infrastructure projects and managed over 180 infrastructure projects worldwide through offices in London, New York, Hong Kong, Seoul and Sydney. InfraRed is an expert in the development, financing and management of new-build infrastructure projects from their conception, design and construction into their operating phases. InfraRed has a long and successful track record investing in low carbon generation and renewable energy infrastructure projects, including wind farms and solar parks, as well as energy-enabling infrastructure such as standby and flexible generation. In this regard, InfraRed has to date developed greenfield projects with over 2 GW of renewable energy and flexible power capacity.
Hecate Grid is an investment of InfraRed Infrastructure Fund V, the fifth in the series of InfraRed infrastructure development funds, which was raised in 2017. The team investing this fund has developed and secured over 80 greenfield infrastructure investments with a capital value of approximately $20 billion and has been involved in the infrastructure market for over 25 years. InfraRed’s core management team has been together for over 15 years, making it one of the longest-established and most experienced infrastructure project development teams globally.
