Environmental Compliance Specialist
The Environmental Compliance Specialist will support project development and EPC teams and directly oversee environmental and permitting compliance on the construction of PV solar and battery storage renewable assets in the Hecate Energy portfolio. The Specialist should be able to collaborate and communicate effectively in a team environment and exercise project authority over construction teams, consultants, and project team members. The candidate must be able to work independently and be self-driven to accomplish goals and objectives while maintaining oversight of several renewable energy construction projects at a time.
Responsibilities
- Review project design plans, issued permits, and other contract documents to gain a thorough understanding of all environmental compliance requirements and commitments.
- Develop environmental compliance trackers for pre-construction projects encompassing all local, state, and federal permitting requirements.
- In coordination with VP of Environmental and Permitting, support the contracting and selection of environmental compliance related vendors. Review and manage cost proposals, invoicing, work plans, and execution strategies
- Manage contractors/consultants that perform field audits, reporting, and monitoring for and renewable energy facilities under construction.
- Self-perform field audits, reporting and monitoring of select construction projects.
- Review and manage the preparation of technical reports, and filings providing quality assurance and quality control of project documents with a focus on compliance with permit conditions and regulations.
- Work closely with Development Team, EPC and contractors to ensure project compliance providing guidance, interpretation, and process requirements
- Coordinate with local, state, and federal agencies on the project’s behalf
- Manage multiple projects, tasks, and deadlines
- Develop, present, and distribute training materials and documents related to environmental and permitting compliance
- Create handoff materials and support a transition from development to construction and construction to O&M
- Support the stakeholder relations team in interactions related to the public for pre-construction and construction stage projects
Qualifications
- At least five (5) years of applicable experience in the environmental field
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local permitting for solar development projects
- Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, travel, and work independently with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated ability to research and prepare concise and accurate technical documents including presentation of findings to clients, stakeholders, and/or regulatory agencies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and organization/analytical skills; experience recording/writing detailed technical data and reports.
- Demonstrated ability to establish a good rapport with project team members, excellent people skills, responsive, collaborative, and effective in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrate very strong verbal communications and written skills including client deliverables and regulatory submittals.
- Ability to travel to project sites, as needed
